I brought an attitude of aggravation over a GMC issue I had heard about to Ralph when dripping off my truck for service. It was due to my ignorance concerning the issue. Ralph's professional approach helped to make me realize that I was approaching this incorrectly. As a Christian I finally realized I was wrong, but as a sinner I needed to be shown the way back on track. Ralph was the one that showed me at this particular stumble. Very efficient and excellent service from start to finish

Very professional. Service writer took care of a recall that I was not aware of and informed me about another that was coming up. I enjoyed visiting with my sales rep. We had a few laughs then toured the lot to see what was. After a short weight in the Service lounge, my car was ready to go.

The salesman listened to my concerns and wishes, communicated with me exactly as I wished (email and text since I would not have easy access to phone calls) and never pressured me in any way. He went out of his way, literally, to meet me and made the car buying process a breeze. The whole staff we interacted with was very kind and professional.

The service was excellent. I got there at 0645 and was third in line. I was greeted with a smile. I got called around 0800 and told it was ready. The truck was sitting under the tree and was ready to go when I got there. I still do not understand why you do not have appointments.

Ralph got me in a loaner quickly to be able to leave my vehicle overnight. Was called the next day with an explanation of what was going on with my truck.

I took my 2017 Buick Enclave in for an oil and filter change. After I got home and reviewed my service ticket it indicated you put 0w20 oil in my car which uses 5w30 full synthetic which is totally unacceptable and could cause motor issues had I not of caught it.

The communication with the shuttle was awful. I waited 45 minutes on a shuttle which was okay. However the shuttle drop off was a disaster. Yes it’s complimentary but no one made me aware I would be in a shuttle for 50 minutes taking me to other end of Hwy 280 which caused me to miss my 11:00 appointment. She also relayed to driver the wrong location of where to drop me off.

Blake Harper made my experience buying a new car easy. I financed part of it and was able to get a great interest rate. The application process was easy and took less than an hour to complete. Since I was trading in a car, I had to go home to get a few things that went with my trade-in. When I returned, they had washed, prepared, and filled my new car with gas. Everyone there was friendly and smiling. It's hard to believe they had the exact car, color, and accessories I wanted. Thus far, I am also pleased with the Buick Envista-Avenir. It's hard to believe that it has more hip room, leg room, and almost as much cargo space as my larger SUV, which I traded for it. It is quiet, rides very well, handles like a sports car, and gets impressive gas mileage. It's also easier for me to get in and out of it. I would call this a great trade!

I had six dealerships on my list for the day with no intention of making a purchase until another day. My goal was to find a really nice used truck. I didn't know much about GMC trucks other than what I heard from people having a preference. I wanted to start there first, at Royal GMC in Hoover. My sales consultant was Andrew and we hit it off immediately. We discussed my needs in a truck and preferences. My wife and I waited as Andrew pulled up in a new 2025 3.5 L V8 Sierra 1500. Andrew knew I had a black truck (recently totaled) and sure enough he drives up in a black with grayish blue interior (beautiful). My wife and I sat in the vehicle and immediately looked at each other with OMG. I drove the truck and was very impressed. We also drove a 2023 with 25,000 miles which was nice. I can't say enough about Andrew, his knowledge of every detail, his patience in answering my questions and the time he spent showing me the details and how things work before my decision to buy. My decision was for the new 2025 5.3 L V8 Sierra. Our visit with Andrew did not stop there. He spent much more time talking with me about everything while waiting for the paperwork and truck prep. Once the vehicle was mine, Andrew spent all the time I required going over so many details of how things work, connecting my phone and getting the GMC app and just making me comfortable. Andrew is responsible for my decision to purchase that truck that day by connecting with me, knowing every detail about the truck and not putting ANY pressure on me to make my decision. This was the best experience I could hope for and I love the truck. Thank you Andrew!

Oil changes are at time hard to get without leaving your car all day. However, this time they were not busy and got us out in a short time. Jared, the Service Writer is excellent and always takes care of us. I always ask for him we we go in because he treats well and get us taken care of.

A little rough to start with some missed communication but service leadership worked it out and took care of the issue.

My Service Manager “Will” was very professional, personable and knowledgeable. He listened to my concerns and then explained what needed to be done. He help set expectations and time frames for getting my issues resolved. He also worked with me on a post repair issue. I’m very pleased with him and the results of my visit.

Communication over recall of engines is poor and vague. It should not take all day to rotate tires and do a simple oil change. Moreover, I am concerned about what may lurking in my engine given the news that there is indeed a recall.

For a warranty visit with car with only 14,141 miles being towed in due to stopped running and had to wait 4 days before it was looked at. Then part had to be ordered.

Will checked my car in for an oil and filter change, tire rotation, airbag recall and my spark plugs changed out. It was ready for pick up in 3 hours. Everything was done right and no oil drips underneath when I got home. Great job.

I took my truck in for mechanical issues. After 7 days of having it and finally getting diagnostics, they recommended a new engine and several other parts which was quoted at just shy of $17,000. I took my truck somewhere else and it was determined it did not need a new engine and only a few parts to fully pair my truck at around $2,400. The Royal GMC person helping me was lacking customer service skills. I called numerous times over a week span and even tried to call the Service Manager to get an update and finally got diagnostics after 7 days. I would not recommend Royal GMC for service issues.

This is the second vehicle I have purchased from this dealership in the last year and a half. Both of those experiences have been fantastic.

We first brought the Yukon up there after being told we didn’t need an appointment. After arriving we were told we needed an appointment since it was a specific type of recall. I wish we would’ve been asked what recall it was over the phone so we didn’t have to come up there twice. Overall once the vehicle got there it I was pleased with the customer service.

The day I had my car in for service went fine. Customer Service was nice and efficient. However 2 days later I had a message pop up telling me that I needed Service - Brake Fluid Low. I had just had all the fluids changed in my 2020 Buick Enclave so this message really concerned me. There was no brake fluid at all in the reservoir. I called the dealership and I was told that I needed to bring it back ASAP. This meant driving another 60 miles round trip to get my problem looked at. They had to reservice the brake lines. It was done properly this time but I did not feel like this whole issue was that big of a deal to them.

Time to complete service took far too long

Scott was very helpful and answered all the questions. A very good man whom if I still had my business I would try to get him to work with me!

Getting an oil change and tire rotation is quite simple but the process is overwhelming. The service advisors are overworked and very harried. This is my second service and about my 4th trip to the dealership for repair/service. They still cannot tell me why my car shows service leveling system warning which it did again later the same day they could do nothing about it. They tell me my L 87 engine is not part of recall (yet). They take appointments on line through GMC app but then cancel and say first come first serve so you need to be at dealership before it opens to get vehicle serviced.

I had tire issues while driving in the area. After some failed attempts to fix the issue myself, I had no idea what to do so I went straight to Royal. I think this speaks volumes of the service I have (and continue) to receive when I visit. I knew these men would be able to help me. They did just that! They took great care of the myself, my babies, and resolved the issue as quickly as possible. They were thorough and provided options & explanations.

Matt Higgins lined everything up for the work, got me a ride home and back to the dealership, and all work was done to my satisfaction.

We came to look at your 2026 Arcadia at4’s I saw the options that you had available and I knew that no other dealerships had any of this particular vehicles available so I was satisfied the color choice that was available after a lot of soul searching and I decided to take a test drive and I made up my mind to get the vehicle. Our salesman was great and everything worked out and we took home the type of vehicle that I was interested in. I say it was a win win for everybody involved.

Not all issues were fixed. Resulting in my Yukon stalling out in the middle of 6 lanes of traffic at 10:30 pm. After 1.5 hours, we found a tow to take it to Royal. All this could have been avoided. We were in danger and GMC Roadside was of zero help!

I've owned my 2025 GMC Denali Sierra 1500 for least than a year and have been in for issues numerous times, with no complete resolution.

Went in for full service oil change before a long trip and specified that I wanted windshield wipers changed, tires rotated and wiper fluid filled because it was empty. Got my truck back after 3 hours and had to head on the road and quickly noticed not only wiper blades not changed but fluid was still empty and inspected tires and they had not been rotated. So basically nothing of what I asked but was definitely charged for those things. I would think in an oil change at the very least topping off all your fluids would come standard but I guess not. Been very loyal to this place and bought a 100,000$ truck so I was just disappointed at the lack of attention to the service.

I called the service department beforehand about our 21 Acadia not recognizing the SD card and was told to bring it in and it may be a simple fix on the front line otherwise it may have to take several days. I did exactly that along with an oil change. The service tech chose to not even try to get the SD card situation looked at and said to come back after the new year. Not near as busy as I have seen over the years as I left at 10:30 with hardly any cars waiting. Terrible service when I did as instructed and service tech said to bring it back after the new year. Just more time I have to allocate because the service tech chose not to do the same.

Had routine scheduled maintenance for vehicle.

No complaints

Came in for tire sensor replacement & 8 speed transmission flush due to shuddering. No engine light was on when I arrived. Upon leaving the shuddering was gone and the tire sensors were working, but I had an engine light on. Came back I spoke with William Truax and report ran before service showed no issues, but when he ran the report again it did. I was scheduled to come back the next day, but the engine light was off. What should I do?

Great representative

I elected to take my vehicle in on a Friday versus a Saturday because I knew that the weekend wait would be extended based on previous visits overpass experiences. So upon arrival the attendant told me “as you can see we have cars ahead of you, so you can expect two hours, I said OK that’s fine. Two hours passed, three hours passed, 4 hours past. And this was just for an oil change and tire rotation.

I love how we were outside and trying to find the encores and Rodney saw us. He stopped what he was doing and came to see if we needed help. He was very patient with us. Rodney made us feel very comfortable. We began to laugh and talk as if we had know him for years. He sold us our 2026 Buick Encore. When we decide to buy another car, Rodney will be our go to man.

My service advisor was Matt at Royal GMC. He was upbeat and told me that they could service my 2020 GMC Acadia on Friday afternoon while I went to Irondale and did some shopping in Vestavia and Hoover. Matt gave.me a call to let me know that my car was ready. I came back to pick up my car at Royal GMC before they closed.

Service was amazing. I had to have my car towed in. I was told it could be a day or two before they could get to it. Surprisingly my car was repaired the same day !!!!!!! I pulled up at the service department at 5:57. The service dept closes at 6:00. They were waiting on me and everything was readt to go. Thank you again for great customer service Matt Higgins

Took 3 hours for an oil change and I asked not to roll down or stick any sticker to my windows because they were recently tinted and they rolled them down and stuck stickers to them

The car buying experience was fast and easy.

Took the new vehicle back after one day. Dealership had it for three days and when I picked it up. They were not sure if it was fixed so they left the ticket open ( my first mistake). Took it on a trip that I had planned (left three days late) and had to take it back when I returned home. They keep it for 10 more days ( at this time they had it longer than I had it) before they think that had it fixed. One problem is no one called, I had to call and check on the status of the car. I also called the service manager and he did not call me back. Great way to treat someone that just bought a $100,000.00 vehicle

My only negative comment is when I paid for the service, I wasn’t told there would be a credit card fee until I asked what the surcharge was on the receipt. I would have used a check instead. Other than that, everything went timely and appears to be excellent service.

The service team was quick to greet me, got my vehicle back quickly, and finished the work well-before I expected! All in all, an excellent experience!

The staff and environment doesn't treat African American people with service and awareness i had a bad experience with service i was look over by white staff members when needed service also the sales representative and sales management gives African American people less on their vehicles than whites and talked many individuals about this and everyone refused to do service with this dealership because of the racial profile against African American i spoken with a white person that purchased a vehicle and they said they doesn't like the was the racial profile African American people so they will support that type atmosphere anymore. I was told this been going on for years i couldn't get the service i need i trade a brand new GMC AT4 in because I was so angry of this racial profile toward me and I been buying GMC for years if look up my profile on the vehicles I purchased for GMC dealership and may other GM dealership has this problem its very said i take my business across town and have a dealership within 5 miles I see we have problem that will never be fix and now people buying older cars because of this racial profile towards African Americans

Your dealership is difficult. You never know what to expect coming in. You can never get anyone to answer the phone. Just a system that is very poorly positioned to deliver satisfaction.

I was thoroughly pleased with my experience. Service technician was very courteous, kept me informed, got my problem fixed in a short amount of time.

I just wish that the service person at this dealership would actually take the time to read the mechanic notes so that when the customer ask what was done to our vehicle, we are actually told what was done. On 2-2-26 my 2019 AT4 was stuck in Drive and would not go into Park or Reverse. Was told by the service person that the mechanic found a stick stuck up in the transmission area by the transmission switch and that switch had to be replaced when in reality it was not the switch on the side of the transmission it was the small switch in the steering column. The mechanic notes clearly say that nothing was found wrong under the truck. The steering column switch replacement is a simple job to replace and the part can be bought off of Amazon. No way there was that much labor to replace that switch. So, to the tune of $887 (which was most likely a labor charge related to the original transmission mounted switch quote) I was able to drive the truck again. Your dealership got the truck in and out in under 8 hours which was appreciated but an incredibly inflated price for such a simple job and totally inaccurate feedback on the repair.

I have a malfunctioning dashboard and I was told it was because my battery level was 30% and I needed a new battery. I bought my truck there new at Royal a year and a half ago and was told my battery was out of warranty. All of my service work is done at the dealership and I feel that this could have been handled as a goodwill adjustment through the factory. Why should I pay almost $500 for a new battery that may last only a year and a half.

I spoke with Ralph to schedule my 45K service appointment. He advised me of the time necessary to complete the service & offered alternative transportation. Then Jen service was completed he asked if I had GM points available. I told him I had no idea. He found them which reduced my final bill by over $200. Very appreciative. Ralph is a clear asset to Royal.

I took my truck in for a standard service and to check a service engine light that came on the day before. I was told I needed to leave my truck at the dealership. My truck was there for 8 days and I was never told what was wrong until it was repaired 8 days after I left it. The communication by the service dept. was non existent and I informed the service rep I had to have a truck for my work. I had to rent a truck for a week and didn't know when I was going to turn it in until the day my truck was repaired. Six days after my truck was in the shop, the service rep tells me I can get a rental furnished but the rental company (Hertz) had no trucks. Total cluster. In the end it was an O2 sensor. 8 days to figure that out and replace it is unacceptable. My vehicle is a 2024 GMC 2500 HD AT4.

Mentioned vehicle could use replacement cabin air filter. Charged $150 for parts and labor. Absolute robbery and greed. Shameful.

Took over a week before they looked at my car. Dealership refuses to take appointments so the only way to get them to look at your car is to leave it for over a week. I will not be doing business with them again. Horrible customer service

Sadly, my second purchase experience from Royal wasn’t nearly as positive as my first purchase experience (2018) from Royal. I purchased a new 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT, and could not make it out of the parking lot without problems. Problem 1: I asked for my financing to take place with 1 particular lender, only to find out the sales manager “forgot” to communicate the information to the person (Jennifer I believe) who would be setting up the financing, who shopped me around with multiple other lenders. 2. Sales Manager also “forgot” to mention to me that Onstar would take a couple of days to setup. 3. On Day 3 of having truck, it died on me in the middle of the road. No real support or even concern from Royal. I email the person who sold me the truck and couldn’t even get a reply. Sales manager also on vacation so no help there. Pretty disappointing… from a returning customer who performs all service that GM recommends at the dealership.

I always ask for Ralph Daniel in service. He has helped me in my several years with Royal, and he does an excellent job. However, as I note every time I come for an oil change and tire rotation the dealership needs an express oil change operation. We're getting older and dropping the cars off for a simple oil change doesn't work and sitting waiting for 2 &1/2 to 3 hours is very uncomfortable. We usually get at the service door at 6:30 a.m. and wait to be in till they open at 7:00 a.m. just to get a jump on the wait time. The work done on the vehicles is good.

From initial contact to delivery of new car, Daniel Simmons was great at getting me get my new Yukon Denali Ultimate. He stayed in contact while the build was progressing and thru shipment to the dealership. The whole team at Royal in Bham are a pleasure to work with.

I needed an oil change and tire rotation and showed Matthew Higgins, my service advisor the $30 off coupon that I was emailed. He told me the price would be around $130 and with the coupon it would be $100. Because of the conditions of my tires, they didn't perform a tire rotation, I understand this and I'm ok with that not being done but when I questioned the price still being $127.15 and $97.15 with the coupon when the tire rotation wasn't performed, he just said that was the price. My tire sensor light is on and he said one sensor was bad and the batteries on the other three were about to go and quoted me $750 to replace all four sensors, i asked about the extended warranty that I bought from Royal GMC covering any of that and he said he would look into it and call me back later that day, still haven't received a call back three days later. I went to Costco later that day and they quoted me $240 to replace all four sensors or $160 if I did it when i bought new tires. I understand getting service work done at the dealership is usually more expensive but three times the amount is ridiculous. I used to have all of my service work done at Royal GMC when Brandon Jennings worked there and have gone to Express Oil Change for my last couple of oil changes, but after receiving the $30 off coupon I decided to give Royal GMC another chance. Not only did this experience leave a bad taste in my mouth for using Royal GMC service department again but probably will buy my next vehicle from somewhere else.

I had a great experience with Josh Templeton, he first called me several months ago, and I ask him to please don’t call me or worry me that when I decided to buy a new truck I would call him first, and he did exactly what I ask, he would send me an email once a month, so when I was ready I gave him the first opportunity to sell me a truck, very knowledgeable and helpful in every way I could ask.

Best service department in the world

I had a Wednesday night surprise when my @check engine" light came on as I was arriving @ choir practice. After cutting off the engine, the fan continued to run. I called Ralph & he suggested that I bring the Envision in the next day. Ralph quicker diagnosed the issue as a coolant valve issue & promptly placed me in a loaner car as he expected the repair to take several days. He later called the same day to advise that GM had sent down a fix (as this had become an issue on numerous cars) & returned my car to me the same afternoon. Ralph is a true asset to the Royal Automotive family.

I met salesman Robert Short in September, while looking around and expressing interest in purchasing a vehicle after the lease on my current vehicle ended in February. He took us on a test drive and talk with us as if we were family or a family friend. Robert would periodically check in with me just to make sure I was still interested and to see if there was anything he could do. When it came time to purchase the vehicle, he checked in to let me know what they had on the lot, and also what they would be expecting in soon. He would call and let me know when theyreceived a new car, so that I could come by and see if it was anything I was interested in. He was a pleasure to work with. I would purchase a vehicle from him again if I need one.
