There are a few ways to prolong the life of your tires, so let’s talk about what type of maintenance helps tires. We’ll also teach you how to tell when your tires need to be replaced.

Visible Tire Damage

Check your tires for signs of damage as often as you can. The sidewall on older tires can become damaged, most commonly by cracking or developing bulges and bubbles. These issues severely compromise the structure of your tires, so the damaged tire should always be replaced. If it’s been a few years since you replaced all four tires, then you’ll need to replace all four of them now.

You can use a tire tread depth gauge to get a specific tread depth measurement to see if you’ll need to replace your tires soon. You can also check the tread without a tool. Pull out a regular penny and put it upside down into the tread. You’ll need new tires once you can see Lincoln’s whole profile above the tread.
